Thalassemia Awareness Camp along with Thalassaemia Free Screening Test among residents of remote villages of Jhargram/Bankura/Midnapore/Purulia

The camp along with free breast cancer lump screening for women will be organized in the month of January 2024 (date not yet finalized).

Blood Pressure , Blood Sugar , Geriatrics problem for underprivileged villagers in remote villages of Sundarbans in the district of south 24 parganas going to be held in monthly basis from December 2023.

Distribution of regular necessary medications as per prescription to underprivileged villagers of remote going to be held from December 2023.

New garments for underprivileged children, poor elderly men and Sarees to poor elderly women will be distributed before the festival days among villagers of Ajodhya hilltop in the district of Purulia on 15th October 2023 Sunday at 12:30 PM.

Project for New winter garments / blankets distribution among needy villagers of Sundarbans area of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal is in the month of December 2023 (date not yet finalized).

This is an ongoing process executed every month since 2016 for Thalassaemic children of poor families for better nutrition and education.

Drama Fest for the aid of underprivileged Thalassaemic children – The date for the Dramatic Festival to generate revenue for the aid to poor Thalassaemic children is yet to be decided for this year. 

The project is under planning and the date of execution not yet finalized.

This is organized frequently for the benefit of Thalassaemic Patient who needs blood transfusions on regular basis as well as for other moribund patients. To be organized tentatively In the month of March 2024 (date not yet finalized).

Project 34 ~ Thalassemia Awareness Camp and Free Thalassemia Screening Test at Bankura

Free Thalassemia screening test and Thalassemia awareness camp under project ‘Sapath’ and a voluntary blood donation camp followed by blankets/winter garments distribution among needy villagers of Sonamukhi block organized by Aarjava Welfare Society in the district of Bankura, West Bengal held on December 27, 2024 in association with Ma Brahamamayee Seva Mandir, Dhanshimla, Bankura. The speech on thalassemia awareness delivered by Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-oncologist, Kolkata. Free HPLC test done for thirty numbers of underprivileged unmarried youth. Thirty-two numbers of people donated blood voluntarily. Blankets handed over to 165 poor people of different villages of Sonamukhi block by Sri Chiranjib Goswami, Secretary, Smt. Anita Roy, Asst. Secretary and Smt. Arundhati Chakraborty, member of the organization.

Project 33 ~ Thalassemia Awareness Camp and Free Thalassemia Screening Test at Purulia

Thalassemia Awareness Camp and Free Thalassemia (HPLC) Screening Test under project ‘Sapath’ – an initiative by Aarjava Welfare Society alongwith distribution of new garments / sarees as a gift to backward class / adibashi underprivileged children and elderly poor men and widows done on account of Durgotsab 2024 in a remote village Tnarpenia of Bagmundi block of Ajodhya hilltop in the district of Purulia, West Bengal held on 5th October 2024. Total 188 nos. of beneficiaries were there in project. The speech on Thalassemia awareness virtually delivered by Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, DM, MD Hemato-oncologist, Kolkata which has been simultaneously translated in santhali (local) language by Sri Mutru Baskey during the awareness session. Other than the Secretary of organization Sri Chiranjib Goswami, Sri Arup Kumar Pal with Sri Debkamal Mondal – members of organization were also present in the project. Later a seedling has been planted by Aarjava members to mark the entire event organized on the date.

Project 32 ~ Free Thalassaemia Screening & Awareness Program at Jhargram

Project organized by Aarjava Welfare Society on 6th September 2024 in logistic support of Seva Bharti Mahavidyalaya, Jhargram. President of Aarjava Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Secretary Sri Chiranjib Goswami and Principal of College Prof. Dr. Debaprasad Sahu, Dr. Kartik Ch. Naskar & organizing secretary Sri Arup Kr. Pal along with other guests were present there. 40 nos. of unmarried youths of college has tested HPLC of blood (thalassaemia screening). Virtually speech on awareness given by member of Aarjava Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-oncologist, Kolkata. Leaflets on awareness has been distributed among youths. A voluntary blood donation camp was also organised by AWS where 30 nos. of donor doneted blood happily. Later, a seedling which has been adopted by Aarjava planted in the college campus to mark the entire project and that dedicated in memory of departed soul of ‘Abhaya’.

Project 31 ~ Care & Warmth of Love

On 1st December 2023 a Free Thalassemia Screening Test and Thalassemia Awareness Camp held under project ‘Sapath’ followed by Blankets/Winter garments distribution among 160  needy tiger attack victim families of different villages of Sundarban in the district of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal in presence of Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Hon’ble President of Aarjava Welfare Society. Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-oncologist, Kolkata delivered speech virtually over precautionary measures of thalassaemia. Leaflets on thalassaemia awareness distributed among villagers by other society members present in the project.

Project 30 ~ Love Care & Smile before festive days.

The project on Thalassemia Awareness Camp and Free Thalassaemia Screening Test (‘Sapath’)  along with distribution of new garments to underprivileged children and elderly poor  men and sarees to widows on account of  Durgotsab 2023 in remote villages of Bagmundi block in Ajodhya hilltop in the district of Purulia, West Bengal held on 15th October 2023 Sunday. Inaugural speech virtually given by Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Hon’ble President of  Aarjava Welfare Society followed by thalassaemia awareness speech by Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-Oncologist, Kolkata. The entire speech was translated live on spot by Sri Mutru Baskey in Santhali language to the tribal beneficiaries and audience for their easy understanding. Members of Aarjava handed over the clothes to 210 beneficiaries.

Project 28

Free Thalassaemia Screening Test among sixty underprivileged male & female youths followed by Thalassaemia Awareness Camp was organized by Aarjava at Seva Bharti Mahavidyalaya at Kapgari in Jamboni Block of Jhargram district, West Bengal on 25th March 2023 where the lecturer as well as the member of Aarjava, Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, (Hemato Oncologist) discussed about causes and preventive measures of the disease. Our president Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Sri Chiranjib Goswami ( secretary) and the principal of the college were also present at the camp. Everyone enthusiastically supported the program.

Project 27

Like every year on 4th December 2022, a Thalassaemia Awareness Camp was organized by Aarjava where the speaker, Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya (Hemato-Oncologist) discussed the cause, effects and precautionary measures of thalassaemia disease. This was followed by new blankets & winter garments distribution program near premises of Jamghutu Primary School area in Bagmundi block of Ajodhya hill-top, Purulia district, West Bengal. A total of 150 blankets were handed over to the poor & aged tribals of Jamghutu & Jilingtar village and also few street beggars of the purulia city.

Project 25

Aarjava organized a Thalassaemia Awareness Camp on September 16, 2022 in Jalpaiguri district where the speaker Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-Oncologist, discussed about the importance of screening tests for prevention of thalassaemia . This was followed by distribution of new garments and sarees among more than hundred underprivileged children, poor elderly men & widows before festive days of Durgapuja . Young unmarrieds were also given a free premarital screening test to check for thalassaemia carrier status. In addition to the aforementioned project the organization also arranged lunch for all the beneficiaries.

Project 24

National Flag hoisting on account of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava, the 76th Independence Day of India was done by Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Hon’ble President of Aarjava Welfare Society with two underprivileged Thalassaemic patient Sk. Khurshid Alam & Km. Sraboni Debnath in presence of Sri Chiranjib Goswami, Secretary, AWS, Sri Tapan Dasgupta, Councillor Ward 95, KMC and other members of Aarjava.

Project 23

An urban blood donation camp and Thalassaemia awareness program was organized by Aarjava at Tollygunje Boys club , Kolkata, west Bengal. Member cum speaker Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-oncologist, discussed about Thalassaemia prevention. About 62 people voluntarily donated blood at this camp. Respectable dignitaries like Sri Bibhash Chakraborty, Sri Meghnad Bhattacharya, Smt. Thankamani Kutty, Smt. Sima Mukhopadhyay, Sri Jayanta Narayan Chattopadhyay, Sri Tapan Dasgupta were present along with our president Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty.

Project 26

Aarjava Welfare Society from its very inception has been working continuously for the downtrodden people of remote areas of Bengal. Despite a lot of impediments and counterchecks, we have been steadily moving towards making a world beautiful for the people who are deprived of even the basic facilities of life. In this journey, we have reached out to the children suffering from thalassaemia. Now, on 26 November, 2022 we endeavoured our journey towards a new goal. We organised a breast cancer awareness and free early breast lump detection/screening camp at phase IVB Community Hall, Golf Green. The first day has been inspiring with a lot of voluntary presence. Mr. Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, actor and president of Aarjava said, ‘The dream with which we started Aarjava will go ahead, despite all the obstacles we face. We step into a new endeavor from today. And we will be moving ahead and this is what we promise ourselves’. Secretary Chiranjib Goswami has said, ‘We want to ensure a safe and healthy world for women. For the growth of society, healths of women are of utmost importance. That is the point where we have initiated this effort.’ Actress Mithu Chakrabarty has said, ‘ Aarjava has always been working for social causes. They face a lot of hindrances. Yet their spirit is indomitable.’ Prof. Dr. Aloke Dasgupta, HOD, Department of Radio Oncology, Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research and S.S.K.M Hospital, Kolkata, gave a lucid speech on awareness of breast cancer . This was followed by a free breast lump detection screening by lady technician of SUADHA NGO, Mumbai.

Project 22

Like yesteryear Aarjava decided to give away new blankets & winter garments to the destitute families and this time it was organised at Dum Dumi Primary School area in Bagmundi block of Ajodhya hilltop in Purulia district, West Bengal on 3rd December 2021. Our volunteers distributed 100 blankets among tribal people of Dum Dumi & Chetanbera village including few beggars of the area. A Thalassaemia awareness camp was set alongside and our hematologist-member Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya gave a lecture on Thalassaemia prevention and testing to the villagers.

Project 21

Amidst the restriction of partial lockdown situation in West Bengal due to Covid 19 pandemic, Aarjava Welfare Society took initiative for distribution of New garments among underprivileged children and sarees among needy elderly widows in remote villages of Nadia district of West Bengal on 2nd October 2021, Saturday before the festive season. Members of the organization handed over the garments to approximately 150 beneficiaries.

Project 20

Covid 19 and the lockdown disrupted the normal livelihood of the poor people the most. Hence under the new normal situation Aarjava organised winter garment & blanket distribution program at Belpahari Block of Jhargraam district, West Bengal on 5th December 2020 for the tribals of that areas who can’t afford the warmth of proper garments during harsh winters. More than 150 blankets were distributed. And as usual the Thalassaemia awareness lecture was also organised under the leadership of Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-oncologist who discussed about the measures for early detection of Thalassaemia carriers.

Project 18

As a part of our constant effort to stand by the lower socioeconomic group of people who are affected mostly due to covid19 pandemic, we took an initiative to distribute new garments and Sarees among underprivileged children and needy elderly women in remote villages of Birbhum district of West Bengal on 17th October 2020 just before the festive season of Durgapuja. Members of the organization handed over the garments to approximately 200 beneficiaries who ushered their blessings upon Aarjava.

Project 17

A three day long Drama Festival was organized by Aarjava Welfare Society at Niranjan  Sadan, Bijoygarh from 17th  to 19th  January 2020 to generate revenue in order to support the  underprivileged  Thalassaemic children financially throughout the year. Chief Adviser for the event was Sri Meghnad Bhattacharya along with Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Hon’ble President of the organization. The festival was inaugurated by renowned actor Padmashree Smt. Sabitri Chatterjee in presence of Sri Aroop Biswas, Hon’ble  Minister of Public Works Dept., Youth Service & Sports Dept., Govt. of West Bengal, Sri Tapan Dasgupta, Chairman, Borough X Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Smt. Tanushree Shankar, Sri Arindam Ganguly, Sri Gaurav Chakrabarty, Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Heamto- Oncologist & President of Aarjava Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty. The welcome speech given by Sri Chiranjib Goswami, Secretary of AWS followed by an opening song by Smt. Aitijhya Roy & Sri Sourya  Chowdhury. The three leading theatre group of India – Charbak (prodn. “Bheeti O Shubechchha”, Laed actors Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Arindam Ganguly, Kheyali Dastidar, Gaurav Chakrabarty), Purbo Paschim (prodn. “Potol Babu Film Star‟, Lead actors Sanjib Sarkar, Chhanda Chatterjee) & Sayak (prodn. “Bhaalo Lok‟, Lead actor Meghnad Bhattacharya, Aruna Mukherjee) participated in the festival. A wrap-up speech has given by Sri Meghnad  Bhattacharya on the last day. Aarjava  handed over donations to few poor Thalassaemic children from different districts of West Bengal respectively in these festival days. The entire festival was hosted by Anita Roy & Chiranjib Goswami.

Projects of 2019

Project 19

During the lockdown period throughout India due to pandemic COVID-19 few coastal districts of West Bengal were severely devastated by the deadly cyclone “Amphan‟. In view of the situation observed in Sundarban area of South 24 Parganas volunteers of Aarjava rushed to relief work on 6th June 2020 with essential commodities as aid for the homeless & affected people in different villages under Mathurapur Block – I. Tarpaulins, Mosquito Nets, Garments, Soaps, Candles, Match boxes, Sanitizers, Face masks, Sanitary napkins along with dry foods like Flattened rice, Sugar, Mustered Oil & Baby food/Milk Powder, Biscuits were handed over by Bhaskar Chatterjee, Sourajit Das, Chiranjib Goswami & Ashmit Chatterjee (members and well-wishers of AWS) to more than 100 needy families. In addition Rice, Masoor dal (pulses), Muri, Salt packets, packaged mineral water bottles also handed over to a community kitchen arranged by a local welfare society for daily meal of approximate 1000 Amphan victims in Raidighee Assembly area of West Bengal.

Project 16

Aarjava Welfare Society took initiative for a project to hand over new blankets / winter garments to under privileged aged / ailed tribal people along with organizing Thalassaemia Awareness Camps at remote villages of Jamboni & Lalgarh block in Jhargram districts on 8th – 9th November 2019. Member-speaker Dr. Souvik Sardar discussed the precautionary measures to stop the thalassemia.

Project 15

On the eve of festive season Aarjava took initiative for a project to distribute new garments among underprivileged children & elderly people of a remote village naming Dhanshimla in Sonamuki Block of Bankura district, West Bengal on 21st September 2019, Saturday. The event was a great success.

Project 14

Aarjava Welfare Society took initiative to conduct a Health Checkup program & to provide financial support for the nutritional and educational upliftment for the underprivileged Thalassaemic patients from different districts of West Bengal & Assam on 9th June 2019, Sunday in presence of Sri Tapan Dasgupta, Borough – X Chairman, KMC, Sri Meghnad Bhattacharya, Sri Arindam Ganguly, Sri Phalguni Chatterjee & Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty The Hon’ble President of organization. In addition, a health checkup program for the Thalassaemic patients was done by Dr. Souvik Sardar, member of Aarjava.

Project 13

With a noble thought to help the thalassemic children and poor people of the society, a fund raising 4-day long Drama Festival was organized by Aarjava at Niranjan Sadan, Bijoygarh, Kolkata from 9th to 12th  January 2019. This ambitious project was inspired by our Chief Adviser Sri Meghnad Bhattacharya (well-known Actor/Director) and guided by actpr Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Hon’ble President of the organization. The event was inaugurated by renowned theatre personality Sri Bibhash Chakraborty & Sri Rudra Prasad Sengupta along with Sri Tapan Dasgupta, Chairman, KMC Borough X , Sri Arindam Ganguly and Sri Gaurav Chakrabarty (actors),  Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharya Heamto-Oncologist. Sri Chiranjib Goswami, the Secretary of AWS briefed about the mission of Aarjava in his opening speech followed by an opening song by Sri Debangshu Mukherjee. The four leading bengali theatre groups-  Charbak (prodn. Chitey Gur, Lead actors Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Arindam Ganguly, Kheyali Dastidar, Gaurav Chakrabarty), Mukhomukhi (prodn. Ghatak Biday, Lead actors Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Poulami Chattopadhyay, Anirban Chakraborty), Rangroop (prodn. Jolchhobi, Lead actors Chitra Sen, Seema Mukherjee, Bimal Chakraborty) & Sayak (prodn. Daibaddhaa, Lead actor Meghnad Bhattacharya, Aruna Mukherjee) performed before a packed auditorium respectively on 4 days of festival. On last day of the festival , a closing speech was given by Sri Meghnad Bhattacharya who also handed over donation amount to some thalassaemic children on behalf of Aarjava WelfareSociety. The entire festival was hosted beautifully by Smt. Manisha Bhattacharjee.

Projects of 2018

Project 12

Aarjava took initiative for distribution of new blankets / winter garments among proverty stricken aged tribal people of remote villages of Belpahari block in the district of Jhargram, West Bengal on 15th  December 2018. More than 100 blankets were distributed by the members of AWS.

Project 11

On 7th October 2018  Aarjava organized new garments and saree distribution among  children and elderly women of the poor & underprivileged class of three villages naming Kamarpara, Roypara, Schoolpara of Pathankhali Panchayat, Basanti Block, District South 24 Parganas on the eve of Durgapuja. As a part of Aarjava’s mission for promoting health and hygiene, sanitary napkins were distributed among young women of that area and an awareness program was organised to make them aware about the importance of sanitary pads during menstrual cycles.

Project 10

On 12th May 2018 – Aarjava organized a Thalassaemia Awareness Camp & a financial support program for some underprivileged Thalassaemic & Leukemia patients from different parts of West Bengal. The event  saw the presence of Sri Tapan Dasgupta, Chairman, Borough X of KMC, Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, President of Aarjava Welfare Society, Sri Meghnad Bhattacharya, Director/Actor of drama team Sayak, Sri Arindam Ganguly, Director/Actor of drama team Charbak, Sri Rahul Arunodoy Bandyopadhyay, well known Actor and Sri Debanjan Chatterjee, Actor. Our member Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato oncologist made everyone aware about the disease and the precautionary measures for Thalassaemia.

Project 9

Aarjava Welfare Society is relentlessly working for the underprivileged sections of the society. One of our endeavor was distribution of winter garments for the aged ,deprived members who suffer freezing cold in districts. This time Aarjava distributed quilts among 65 families from the poorest of the poor section in a tribal village called Sonahara located in the Ayodhya hills of Purulia district on 26th January 2018. A great number of people died in that district from cold-wave in the month of December 2017. We cherished the little smile  on their wrinkled faces after whatever we could provide them with our limited capabilities. In addition Aarjava also distributed garments to approximately 100 persons from the backward community as well in that village.

Project 8

Festivals bring smiles in everyone’s mind. But what about those who can’t afford new clothes every year before the biggest festival of bengalis – The Durgostab. With a mission to bring happiness, on September 24, 2017 , Aarjava arranged a Pre-Durgotsab event for new garments distribution among 100 under privileged children and elderly people in a remote village of Kamarpukur in the district of Hooghly, West Bengal. The project was organized by the donations collected from members of the organization as well as our from well-wishers. The gifts were handed over to the beneficiaries by the members of the organization.

Project 7

Aarjava Welfare Society celebrated the International Thalassaemia Day – The 8th May 2017 by arranging medical and financial help for the treatment and education of sixteen under privileged Thalassaemic children from different districts of West Bengal. The event was made successful by the presence of veteran Actor-Director-Theatre personality Sri Dwijen Bandyopadhyay,  Kolkata Municipal Corporation Chairman of Borough – X Sri  Tapan  Dasgupta, noted actors & theatre personalities Sri Arindam Ganguly & Smt. Kheyali Dastidar . The presence and participation of the people of Golf Green & its adjacent areas were overwhelming.

Project 6

AARJAVA organised a  BLOOD DONATION CAMP, HEALTH CHECK-UP & PATIENT CARE PROGRAM ON 19 MARCH 2017 for the Aid of underprivileged Thalassaemic Patients in memory of one of the Founder Member of the Society Lt. Abhishek Das. The program was  inaugurated by Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Sri  Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay, Dept. of Power & Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Govt. of West Bengal and was presided by Sri Tapan Dasgupta, Chairman, Borough – X, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Dr. Seikh Jinner Ali, Chairman, Anti Human Trafficking Committee, Govt. of India, Dr. Shyamal Mukherjee, Secretary, Indian Red Creoss Society, Smt. Kheyali Dastidar, Actor/Director/Theatre personality and other distinguished guests along with people from press media. Common people from the adjacent area as well as our President, actor Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and other members of the AARJAVA took active part as volunteers in donating blood in this camp.

Project 5

On January 15, 2017 Aarjava Welfare Society organized Thalassaemia Awareness Camp for the people of Dakshineswar, Adyapith, Ariadaha and adjacent area at Ariadaha Association Library under Kamarhati Municipality, North 24 parganas where Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hematologist & Hemato- Oncologist from Kolkata Apollo Gleneagles Hospital described in lucid language about the Thalassaemia disease and the precautionary measures & screening tests to prevent the disease. The awareness program was attended by more than 100 young enthusiastic audience. Information leaflets were also distributed among the attendees.

Projects of 2016

Project 4

On 24th  September 2016  Aarjava Welfare Society handed over a token amount to the under privileged Thalassaemia affected kids from different districts of West Bengal for their treatment, nutrition and education purpose at Golf Green, Phase IVB community hall in presence of local residents and some eminent guests, press media & the then Chairman Borough X of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Sri Tapan Dasgupta.

Project 3

The success of the last event inspired us to take an ambitious fundraising  socio – cultural program, on 25th June, 2016 at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata. Aarjava reached out to some of the spirited kids who are affected by Thalassaemia and are from the lowest income segment of the society. They were handed over a token amount of money to support their treatment and education and to give them the confidence that Aarjava is beside them for any further requirements with all their strength.  This program, to generate revenue for the aid of Thalassaemic children will also be remembered for the glittering presence of some of the kind hearted, respectable persons from the society, naming a few , Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty (Currently the President of the Society), Sri Arindam Ganguly (eminent Actor and play-writer), Sri Meghnad Bhattacharya(eminent Actor & play -writer) , Dr. Prabodh G. Dhar Chakraborty, Retd. IAS. On this evening a musical play written by Sri Chiranjib Goswami (Secretary) and jointly performed by the members of the Charbak Theatre Group & Aarjava themed on thalassemia awareness was staged. This was followed by a Jugalbandi of songs and poetry recitation by Sri Srikanta Acharya, Smt. Lopamudra Mitra and  Sri Srijato Bandopadhyay. The program was hosted by Smt. Manisha Bhattacharjee.

With an oath to eradicate Thalassaemia, Aarjava Welfare Society (AWS) joined hands with a well-known reputed organization “The Thalassaemia Society of India” for this event and on the eve of the “World Thalassaemia Day” (8th May, 2016), Aarjava reached out to few under privileged Thalassaemic children with financial help to give some relief to their families from the burden of recurrent treatment cost.

Project 1

In September, 2015 Aarjava started it’s journey through this initiative towards the welfare of street children of Barrackpore, Khardah & Sodepur ( 24 Parganas -N). We handed over books, new garments and inspired them to regularly go to school and to continue their studies against all odds.

Project 27

Like every year on 4th December 2022, a Thalassaemia Awareness Camp was organized by Aarjava where the speaker, Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya (Hemato-Oncologist) discussed the cause, effects and precautionary measures of thalassaemia disease. This was followed by new blankets & winter garments distribution program near premises of Jamghutu Primary School area in Bagmundi block of Ajodhya hill-top, Purulia district, West Bengal. A total of 150 blankets were handed over to the poor & aged tribals of Jamghutu & Jilingtar village and also few street beggars of the purulia city.

Project 25

Aarjava organized a Thalassaemia Awareness Camp on September 16, 2022 in Jalpaiguri district where the speaker Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-Oncologist, discussed about the importance of screening tests for prevention of thalassaemia . This was followed by distribution of new garments and sarees among more than hundred underprivileged children, poor elderly men & widows before festive days of Durgapuja . Young unmarrieds were also given a free premarital screening test to check for thalassaemia carrier status. In addition to the aforementioned project the organization also arranged lunch for all the beneficiaries.

National Flag hoisting on account of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava, the 76th Independence Day of India was done by Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Hon’ble President of Aarjava Welfare Society with two underprivileged Thalassaemic patient Sk. Khurshid Alam & Km. Sraboni Debnath in presence of Sri Chiranjib Goswami, Secretary, AWS, Sri Tapan Dasgupta, Councillor Ward 95, KMC and other members of Aarjava.

An urban blood donation camp and Thalassaemia awareness program was organized by Aarjava at Tollygunje Boys club , Kolkata, west Bengal. Member cum speaker Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, Hemato-oncologist, discussed about Thalassaemia prevention. About 62 people voluntarily donated blood at this camp. Respectable dignitaries like Sri Bibhash Chakraborty, Sri Meghnad Bhattacharya, Smt. Thankamani Kutty, Smt. Sima Mukhopadhyay, Sri Jayanta Narayan Chattopadhyay, Sri Tapan Dasgupta were present along with our president Sri Sabyasachi Chakrabarty.

Aarjava Welfare Society from its very inception has been working continuously for the downtrodden people of remote areas of Bengal. Despite a lot of impediments and counterchecks, we have been steadily moving towards making a world beautiful for the people who are deprived of even the basic facilities of life. In this journey, we have reached out to the children suffering from thalassaemia. Now, on 26 November, 2022 we endeavoured our journey towards a new goal. We organised a breast cancer awareness and free early breast lump detection/screening camp at phase IVB Community Hall, Golf Green. The first day has been inspiring with a lot of voluntary presence. Mr. Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, actor and president of Aarjava said, ‘The dream with which we started Aarjava will go ahead, despite all the obstacles we face. We step into a new endeavor from today. And we will be moving ahead and this is what we promise ourselves’. Secretary Chiranjib Goswami has said, ‘We want to ensure a safe and healthy world for women. For the growth of society, healths of women are of utmost importance. That is the point where we have initiated this effort.’ Actress Mithu Chakrabarty has said, ‘ Aarjava has always been working for social causes. They face a lot of hindrances. Yet their spirit is indomitable.’ Prof. Dr. Aloke Dasgupta, HOD, Department of Radio Oncology, Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research and S.S.K.M Hospital, Kolkata, gave a lucid speech on awareness of breast cancer . This was followed by a free breast lump detection screening by lady technician of SUADHA NGO, Mumbai.
